Aviva Chernick is an artist and meditation teacher who brings the artistry of voice, story and movement to each and every offering. As a founding member of the Canadian World Music group Jaffa Road, Aviva has toured across Canada, the United States and Brazil. Aviva has been further developing her vocal and compositional presence in her work in Soundstreams' The Electric Messiah, Seven Deadly Sins (Wrath) and Claude Vivier’s Musik fur das Ende. Aviva leads a remarkable quartet in her newest musical release "La Serena." Aviva received her certification as a Jewish mindfulness teacher through the Institute for Jewish Spirituality. Together with colleague Rabbi Sam Feinsmith, Aviva created and teaches an online course for the Institute on niggun (wordless melody) as prayer. She has also been developing recordings of teachings and offered ongoing meditation sessions for B’nai Jeshrun Congregation, JPRO, LabShul and for the mindfulness community that she founded called neySHEV. Aviva was one of the fellows in the inaugural Rising Song Fellowship based in Philadelphia and she is the inaugural Artist in Residence with Beth Tzedek Congregation in Toronto (2019 – present)
